"Продовольствие ради мира"Правительственная программа, созданная в 1954 с целью предоставления продовольственной помощи населению нуждающихся стран мира. Утверждая эту программу, Конгресс США [ Congress, U.S.] руководствовался стремлением расширить потребление производимых в США продуктов за рубежом, сократить продовольственные излишки, требующие больших затрат на хранение, и содействовать реализации внешнеполитических целей США. Предусматривает поставки сельскохозяйственных излишков на безвозмездной основе, с оплатой в валюте страны-импортера или с использованием льготных займов. Поставки осуществляются через некоммерческие благотворительные организации [ CARE (Cooperative for American Relief Everywhere), Catholic Relief Services - U.S. Catholic Conference]. Координация программы осуществляется совместно Агентством международного развития [ Agency for International Development] и Министерством сельского хозяйства [ Department of Agriculture, U.S.].
